FOOD BANK

Turning Singapore’s food waste into energy for the hungry

In Singapore, a country known as a food paradise, at least 1 in 10 experience food insecurity. Yet, food waste in Singapore continues to grow every day, generating a whopping 788,600 tonnes of food waste every year.

Troubled by these statistics, Nichol Ng co-founded The Food Bank Singapore, creating a centralised food resource management in the country that allows for unwanted or unused food to be given to those in need, rather than going to waste.

Today, The Food Bank Singapore takes the food donations they receive from various retailers and manufacturers, and redistributes them to over 200 beneficiaries, providing safe and nutritious food to many who are hungry.
